Meet Our Founder

Lance Key

Lance Key was fearfully and impressively made in 1984. He served in the United States Marine Corps immediately after 9/11, during both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

Lance acquired his formal education from Boston University. He graduated in 2014 where he studied deep thinking and many other impressive things. Lance married Saundra Key in 2025, and together they have four children, a granddaughter and two loyal dogs named Rambo and Biscuit.

Lance Key founded The Spore Galore LLC. on a mountain of very impressive ideals with his buddy Mark, but really, they just wanted to grow the most impressive mushrooms in the world because they have the ability to. And, because someone said they wouldn't be able to do it one time.

Lance strives for mycological excellence and in honing his craft to give his customers the most bulbous caps possible at a value they can afford. Lance enjoys boxing, writing and playing chess.

Saundra Key

Saundra Key is a proud North Carolina native and a graduate of East Forsyth High School. With over 18 years of experience at Lowe's Home Improvement, she brings a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a customer-focused mindset to everything she does.

She was just married to Lance Key in December 2025, a loving mother to 4 children and grandmother to a 5-year-old sweetheart, who inspires her daily. Family is at the heart of Saundra's life, and she takes great pride in supporting her husband and standing beside him as he grows The Spore Galore.

At The Spore Galore, she plays a role in the business, helping behind the scenes while encouraging its growth and success. She believes in hard work, sustainability, and building meaningful relationships with customers. Chief product tester and senior flavor analyst.

Founded by a combat veteran, our indoor growing facility is a place where discipline, precision, and healing come together. We use controlled-environment agriculture and careful craftsmanship to grow premium lion’s mane and other mushrooms with consistency and care. Every harvest reflects our belief that good food, grown with purpose, can strengthen both people and community.
